Publisher returns to the pitch after brief absence with 2006 FIFA World Cup on all platforms.

It’s been less than five months since Electronic Arts released FIFA 06 for current-gen consoles and handhelds, less than four months since FIFA 06: Road to FIFA World Cup launched alongside the Xbox 360, and less than a week since FIFA Street 2 hit stores. But EA’s not about to rest the most important license in the world’s most popular sport.

The publisher today announced the development of 2006 FIFA World Cup for the Xbox 360, Xbox, PlayStation 2, GameCube, GameBoy Advance, Nintendo DS, and PSP, all slated to arrive in April. The 2006 World Cup begins June 9 as host country Germany takes on Costa Rica in the first match.

New features for the World Cup edition of EA’s soccer sim include a dozen official stadiums that will be used in this year’s competition in Germany, as well as stadiums from each qualifying region. EA is also promising enhanced animations, with 127 national teams and the individual likenesses and playing styles of nearly 100 international soccer stars. The game also includes unlockable stars of years past, and a Global Challenge mode that tests how players can fare in recreations of classic World Cup moments.

They are doing it again  like they did it previous World Cup in 2002 . I hope this time they improve there gameplay also and not just feature on  Stadiums . But in my opinion i consider Pro Evolution Soccer better .

Watched the movie Just Like Heaven starring Resse Witherspoon and Mark Ruffalo . It is a wonderfully acted Romantic , comedy movie.

Elizabeth Masterson (Witherspoon) is a dedicated, workaholic doctor who is way to busy for a life. One night, she gets into a horrible car accident and becomes a spirit stuck between heaven and earth. She doesn’t know she’s dead and thinks nothing has happened until she meets David Abbot (Ruffalo), a lonely architect, who rents her old apartment. David thinks he’s crazy by seeing Elizabeth’s spirit and tries all ways to get rid of her, but she just won’t go away. Although the two are complete opposites they somehow may just form a relationship

Ruffalo and Witherspoon have a great chemistry and the script of the movie is also good. What i loved about the film is Elizabeth’s and david progression from Animosity to affection . At first they hate each other but slowly they began to rely on each other and fall in love . He beacme dedicated while trying to help her get her spirit back to her body .

The Movie is diffrent from the other romantic movies as it features   a man falling in love with the spirit but the charecters are well played and it is quite fun to watch .

Launch of PS3 may be Delayed March 1, 2006

Speculation is rife that the launch of Sony’s eagerly-awaited, Gen-Next PlayStation 3 (PS3) video game console might be delayed, if industry specifications for some of Sony’s technology are not finalized soon.

A spokesperson for Sony reportedly said that the company is aiming for a spring launch, but that it hasn’t announced specific regions. The spokesperson said that Sony is waiting for final specifications on some of the technology it uses in PS3, such as those related to the Blu-ray DVD drive and input and output video and sound.

The Sony spokesperson added that the company is waiting for these specifications until the last possible minute, but that the launch could be pushed back if the specs are not decided soon. The spokesperson further said that if the PS3 is not ready in time, Sony will choose the next best timing for the launch.

Meanwhile software developers such as Konami, Bandai Namco and Capcom have committed to launching games for PS3; while refraining from committing to a spring launch. Developers like Square Enix have gone on to say that they have no plans to launch titles for PS3 this spring.

Not surprising… since Sony has been promising a spring launch of PS3 all along, while deliberately keeping mum about the exact time of the launch.

Considering Sony’s PS3 will be competing with the likes of Microsoft’s already launched Xbox 360 and Nintendo’s upcoming Revolution, analysts feel that a delay to the launch of PS3 might actually jeopardize Sony’s dominant position in the video games market – giving its rivals that much desired boost.

AskJeeves to be Ask.com now March 1, 2006

In what marks the end of one of the most popular icons on the Internet, AskJeeves.com has announced the retirement of Jeeves – its loyal butler, in a re-branding and re-tooling exercise of sorts.

As the company re-positions itself to compete with the likes of Google, it will now call itself simply Ask.com.

Ask.com’s homepage will not feature Jeeves; instead there will be several search functions and a toolbox designed to help users find what they are looking for on the Internet. Users can select from around 20 different types of specialized search tools that Ask.com has developed.

Jim Lanzone, general manager, Ask.com, says that while search sites from Google, Yahoo or MSN require multiple clicks to reach specialized information, Ask.com has gone a lot further.

AskJeeves.com started out in 1996-97 as a website, wherein users could ask Jeeves – the cartoon butler any question and get an answer in seconds. Google arrived in 1998, with a page-ranking system based on the concept that credible answers come from sites having the highest number of links from other sites. Ever since, AskJeeves and other such sites have struggled to stand-out amongst the crowd.

Ask.com, formerly AskJeeves.com, incorporates a couple of new features such as new mapping technology which allows users not only to search for a map based on an address, but build an itinerary with up to 10 different locations; the ability to create driving or walking directions based on overhead aerial maps; etc.

While Lanzone is hopeful that the re-vamped site will encourage loyal Jeeves fans to stay longer, even while attracting new users; analysts feel that the big challenge facing Ask.com is that people are so habituated to using Google for search that even if Ask.com has something better to offer – it may not matter to them.

Well the first week after the minors was quite relaxing  , as most of the lectures didnt take place due to some problem or the other , the week was quite enjoyable . HCL also came to our college for placement  and so the whole college was quite buzzing with excitement especially the 3rd year . It also reminded me that my turn would be coming soon within a year ( got to improve my CGPA ) . Got my answersheet in maths , got a mere 5/20 . Not bad considering i hate the subject and dont quite remember the integration and calculus stuff i did in 12th . But ok got to improve it also   . Started doing Java this week , made a few program and so , quite a good language . Since most of the time i was free got the time to watch few movies .
